Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.abbyrosedalto.com/2014/04/happy-birthday.html

It's my daughter's birthday!!

In honor of this momentous occasion, I wanted to let her (and everyone else) know how much I love her, how great she is, and why it is so amazing being her mom!

She is soooo awesome!

She curses like a sailor...

...but knows how to be "ladylike" when the time calls for it too.

She's fun and silly...

(For example: we can have long debates over what's better: pancakes or waffles?)

...but she's also cool and down to earth...

...and wise beyond her years.

Thanks to her, I have someone to sing with in the car...

...which is lot cooler than when I sing alone...

...and I know enough about popular music to pretend I'm much cooler than I really am.

(I said pretend.)

Luckily she hates One Direction almost as much as I do!

Well... almost as much.

She's old enough that I can let her go to the movie theater without adult supervision...

...but yet she still lets me use her as an excuse to go see awesome crap like Vampire Academy.

Also Hunger Games. Oh so much Hunger Games

Peeeeeeeeeta!

I also have an excuse to watch shows on Disney, TeenNick and ABC Family.

Especially ABC Family.

I love Switched at Birth like no adult should love anything, ever.

Having a teenage daughter is like having my very own living Barbie doll/hair model to experiment on...

...well... except when it's not.

I can ask for her approval on most of my fashion choices.

(Even if her advice usually just consists of her just telling me "uh... no.")

She used to be a little mini-me...

...but now we're the same size (well almost).

That means we can share clothes...

...unfortunately, she usually looks better in everything than I do.

Some of her classmates still mistake me for her older sister once in a while.

Half of her friends call me "Mom". The other half call me by my first name.

(I don't think any of them even know my real last name.)

I actually like her friends...

...well most of them.

They're smart and funny and overall nice kids.

(But I'll deny that if anyone tells them I said that!)

They remind me of the friends I had when I was her age....

...actually they kind of remind me of the friends I have now

Her friends tell me I'm the "cool mom"...

...but I know that's just because I let them hang out at my house every Friday.

(I know they don't actually think I'm cool-cool. I'm just cool in comparison to some of the other moms.)

Her friends are over so often that I am now on a first name basis with all the pizza delivery guys in town...

...and my Netflix suggestions are totally skewed....

...but it's still worth sacrificing my own weekend from time to time.

Because it makes my daughter happy... and that makes it totally worth it.

And because of her and her friends, I have an excuse to buy (and then eat!) junk food like Doritos and Sour Patch Kids...

...and Nutella... ohhhh nutellllla...

My daughter is fucking hysterical.... she makes me laugh all the time.

And she is so smart.

No, like really smart. Honor roll smart...

...which is really great because apparently I fucking suck at Science, so she's totally on her own there.

My daughter is also beautiful...

...talented...

...brave...

 ...kind...

and overall just a really amazing person.

I know she's going to go far in life and she can be whatever she wants to be...

...well almost anything.

I'm so proud to be her mother.

Even if she hates me sometimes...

(She's a teenager. It's kinda her job.)

...and is often embarrassed by me.

(I'm her mom. That's pretty much my job.)

I'm so happy to have her in my life, starting from the moment the doctor told me "It's a girl".

All of my friends should be totally jealous that they don't get to be her mom!

She deserves an awesome birthday. I hope all her wishes come true...

...well almost all of them.

I'm so excited to celebrate her birthday with her...

...and a bunch of her loud friends... all hyper and hopped up on cake.

(Wish me luck.)

Happy birthday babe, I love you.
